　　吃瓜

　　“吃瓜”，网络流行语词，“瓜”表示某个热点新闻、八卦事件(gossip; news; scoop)或别人的隐私(personal information belonging to someone else)。

　　“一起吃瓜”有分享八卦的意思，与英文流行语“spill the tea”意思相近，“瓜”与“tea”相对应。

　　“吃瓜”还可以表示一种不关己事、不发表意见仅围观的状态，如“不明真相的吃瓜群众(a spectator who does not know the truth)”。

　　“键盘侠”，网络流行语，比喻把键盘当武器，在现实生活中胆小怕事，却喜欢在网上到处抨击他人的人群(someone who expresses and exhibits aggression against others on the internet)，英文可翻译为“keyboard warrior，keyboard man”。

　　他的笑容势必会盖过键盘侠们的口水。

　　His laughs will surely drown out those of his keyboard warrior critics.

　　没有人喜欢键盘侠。

　　No one likes a keyboard warrior.

　　和事佬

　　面对纠纷时，很多人或许都在无意间扮演或充当过一个角色——“和事老”。

　　“和事老”，也写作“和事佬”，字面意思是“调停争端的人(mediator, someone who tries to bring peace)”。“和事”指“平息事件或争端、调节纷争(mediate, make peace)”，“佬”表示“成年男子(guy, fellow)”。

　　“和事老”通常带有贬义，特指不讲原则、不问是非而一味劝双方和解的人(person who is more concerned with stopping the bickering than settling the issue)。

　　你今天可得说个谁对谁错，不能遇事总当和事佬。

　　走后门

　　“走后门”字面意思是“enter by the back door”，比喻不是通过正当途径，而是通过内部关系谋取通融或利益(secure advantages through pull or influence)，带有贬义。

　　“开后门(open a back door)，则比喻当权者以权谋私，滥用职权为他人提供方便(abuse one's powers to secure advantages for others)。

　　她找工作走后门。

　　Someone is pulling strings to get a job for her.

　　这些年买名烟名酒用不着走后门了。

　　These years back-door dealings are not needed to buy cigarettes and wines of brand names.
